Frequently asked questions
Start with a short answer, then follow the detail you need.
What is the Shan Shen Bu TikTok meme?
It is a comedy format using movements from a Chinese folk-dance teaching demonstration. A sideways step becomes a way to joke about avoiding someone or something. See the full explanation and reference videos.
Where can I watch the teaching video?
The explainer includes a YouTube compilation uploaded by 芒key. It is a reupload of teaching footage, not an established first release. Source links remain available if an embed cannot play.
Are all the movements called Shan Shen Bu?
No. Compilations can combine different movements and dance traditions. Our Chinese, pinyin and English glossary distinguishes the names used in the clips.
Do you offer a full dance tutorial?
The current site explains language and cultural context. It does not provide professional movement coaching. The linked teaching footage belongs to its source context.
Where does the preview image come from?
The image pairs two teaching-video stills showing the Chinese name and a full-body demonstration. The composite was supplied to this project; its original uploader and frame timestamps have not been independently established. Reference video links are provided separately.
Do I need an account or payment?
No. This site has no accounts, uploads, subscriptions, checkout or video-generation service.
Why do videos load only after I click?
The page first loads local text and images. Choosing a player connects your browser to YouTube or TikTok. You can close the player afterward. See cookies and media settings.
How do you handle translations and mistakes?
We separate a literal gloss from the meaning in context, and label invented examples. Sources can disagree. The editorial policy explains how corrections and uncertain origins are handled.
Can I submit a correction?
Yes. Email us using the contact page, which lists what a useful correction should contain. There is no submission form on this site.
