About Shan Shen Bu Wiki

Chinese words, video context, and the joke that gets lost in translation.

What you will find here

Shan Shen Bu Wiki is an independent English-language editorial project. We explain Chinese dance movements and the language, traditions and jokes people encounter around them in short videos. Shan Shen Bu is our first topic; the move index connects the explanations.

Each explanation connects the name you hear, its Chinese spelling, a natural English interpretation, and the source material. Our Shan Shen Bu explainer includes a searchable glossary and reference videos.

How the work is produced

AI tools assist with research, translation, drafting, illustration and development. An AI answer is not a source. Important historical claims should point to an identifiable interview, institution or original post, with uncertainty stated where necessary.

This site is operated by 9epic. Our contact page provides an email address for corrections and site questions. We do not claim to be a dance school, the video uploader, or the original choreographer.

Independence and media

We are not affiliated with Beijing Dance Academy, the instructors, TikTok, YouTube or the creators whose posts are discussed. Embedded videos remain hosted on their source platforms. The teaching-video stills help identify the movement; they do not establish the earliest release.
